New sponsor for prestigious award at this year's Heroes.

The Heroes are delighted to announce that M Group have agreed tos sponsor the prestigious Kevin Jarvis Award, the highlight of the glittering ceremony.

Named after Kevin Jarvis, a traffic safety officer who last his life following a high speed vehicle incursion, the special award is decided by the founder, chair and head judges of the ceremony Hero in Highways award which will be bestowed upon one individual whose triumph over adversity is an inspiration to us all.

Speaking about the Award, Kevin Robinson, one of the founders of the Heroes Awards said,

"You think as the event director of the Heroes Awards you have seen it all and then somebody comes along and truly floors you with a story of sheer triumph over adversity and a bloody mindedness that life simply will not beat them and despite the significant challenges they face this individual is going to win no matter what.

"Not an act of random kindness, not somebody who has gone above and beyond whilst not once asking for thanks but instead but whose back story simply moves you to say wow.

"Without giving too much away, this year's winner is somebody whose achievements truly moved the two of us to tears when we heard their story and as such we felt, in the true spirit of the ceremony we could not let this individual go unnoticed."

Speaking about the decision to become involved in the Heroes awards, Richard Hemingway, SHEQ Director of M Group Highways said,

"Every once in a while there is a defining moment that deserves greater public awareness. This award focuses attention on an unassuming hero who is one of 1.6million people working today across the UK highways and transportation sectors, helping to make the lives and journeys of the travelling public comfortable, efficient and smarter. This is a sector that contributes on £11billion annually to the UK economy and as a career path is a force for great personal wellbeing.

This year’s recipient was one of those many committed individuals who go to work taking a pride in what they do and the benefits it brings to many other people. Nobody expects or deserves to go to work to receive verbal threats or physical abuse for making someone’s journey better, and yet this is a daily occurrence for many workers in the highways sector. The ambition of this award is to raise the public profile of any worker, but roadworkers in particular, who strive together in making the customer experience a better one."

Taking place at the London Hilton, Park Lane on 26th November, the awards will not only recognise those who have gone above and beyond their duty, but also those that have helped someone or improved a situation, either in the communities they work in or to unconditionally support fellow workers in their team.
